Cherry Creek (Castlewood) Falls

Location: Castlewood State Recreation Area, south of Denver west of Franktown, Colorado

Drop: 20 foot drop

Water Source: Cherry Creek

Directions: Take County Road 51 south from Rt. 86 about .25 miles west of Franktown for 3 miles to the entrance to the recreation area and continue to the parking area for the falls.

Notes: I visited Cherry Creek Falls on November 15, 2004. There is a $5.00 daily fee (or an annual Colorado State Parks Pass) required. Near the box where you pay the fee are park maps that show the trails. I walked along the trail until I was just over the falls, but there was no good view of the falls from that spot. The best views were along the trail toward the falls.

There was another narrow falls feeding into the river downstream of Cherry Creek Falls, shown in the last photo.
